The Rise of Technology in K-12 Classrooms [INFOGRAPHIC]

The infographic below, created by TeacherPortal, provides compelling reasons for the continued use of technology in the K-12 environment – particularly within the classroom.

Despite the positives, there are also some valid concerns to be aware of when leveraging this kind of technology. Simply acquiring technology in the classroom isn’t enough. The infographic below covers four keys to make the most of technology in the classroom:

1. Take it slow

One Education Week blogger advises administrators to focus on big-picture planning before investing in EduTech hardware like tablets.

2. Have a plan

A National Education Association article notes that despite the thousands of dollars spent on smartboards, some schools use them as giant TV screens.

3. Understand the limitations

Scholastic.com cautions that a teacher may want students to access content via e-readers, but digital rights programs can limit the number of downloads.

4. Spend smarter

An NPR article notes that digital equipment can be costly, and what ultimately counts is not the amount of equipment, but how it is used.
